There are quite a lot of people who would like to change their name but are worried about it because they think that the process will be too complicated or time consuming and costly. However, it is actually not that expensive, very simple to do and you can even do it on line.
All you have to do is to look up uk name change and get to the Deed Poll website. There is a simple explanation of how the process works and what you have to do to get your name changed. You will need to register with them and give them your contact details. They will then send you out a form to complete. You will need to give them the details of your current and new name as well as your contact details and you will need to sign the form in the presence of an appropriate witness. Then you just send it back to them. They will process it and send you official confirmation of the change of name and usefully also send you an information pack.
It is really just as simple a process as when you change your name getting married. The more difficult bit is actually getting the name changed on all your official documents such as passports and driving licences as well as your bank accounts, utility bills, email account and things like that. It can be quite a difficult process but it is worth the effort when you have your new name on everything. Whether you want to change your name because of marriage or finding out about your family tree or for other reasons, it can be a straight forward process to start off. If you want several name changes done at once, for additional family members then it can work out cheaper than having them done individually.
